Floor 1 labyrinth

Last checked 2026-11-03

The labyrinth is the part of Floor 1 where the corridors loop up, down, and sideways. The Rat King is the boss tied to that loop. The janitor key is not in it. Mazes and Wizards, Lyle’s board game, is not it either.

Three mazes, one of them is this page

Search traffic says “janitor key in the maze” as if the sentence were a location. The key article puts the Janitor Key Ring on the Garbage Worm in the basement. Papineau, the janitor, is a person on the ground floor. This loop is a third place. Walking it with a metal detector for a key ring is the mistake this page exists to stop.

What the loop does contain, on the wiki, is repetition. Horizontal wrap and vertical wrap. Apartment 21 or the stairwell is how you are already on Floor 1 before the loop becomes the problem. The Floor 1 page lists rooms: machine, hideout, studio, apartment 18. This page lists the way those hallways refuse to end. I will not paste the room list again.

The Rat King is the fight inside that refusal. It is not the Rat Child from apartment 13, and it is not Ernest’s Rat Hell. Three rat names, three floors of the guide. I do not have a published weakness percentage for the king, so the boss table’s weakness cell stays blank rather than borrowing the Child’s skills.

Lyle’s Mazes and Wizards is a game he owns. It can sit on a table while you talk about photographs. It does not generate these corridors. If a caption calls the board game “the maze,” it is using a nickname, not a map label.

Getting out is the other search. The wiki’s practical answer is that the loops are a property of the floor, not a locked puzzle with a single disc. I am not going to invent a “correct wall” to punch. Use the room page once you recognize a landmark, and leave the key hunt to the basement.
