Ground floor

Last checked 2026-11-03

The ground floor is gated by an astronomers’ lock: two discs whose values add to 3. Earth is 1 and Mars is 2, which is the pair the number allows. The landlord, the men’s room, and the laundromat are the other reasons people come down here.

Route schematic

Floor 1 → discs totaling 3 → Ground Floor → rent / janitor / laundry routes

Original navigation schematic based on the cited area notes; arrows show progression, not measured room coordinates.

A sum of 3, then the people

Mercury and Venus are both 0. Negative is −10. Void is −1. Sun is 13. I mention them so nobody “solves” the lobby with a huge disc and calls it close enough. The door wants 3. The disc page has every other door’s total. This page owns the lobby gate and the fact that you reach the floor by satisfying it.

Jeanne’s laundry is the laundromat errand, worth $50 on her article. That is a ground-floor chore whose client lives on Floor 2. Papineau is in the men’s bathroom when your party is small, and in the janitor’s room otherwise. Nestor is the other man in that bathroom, and Rafta’s letter is what turns him into the worm chase. Three conversations, one plumbing room. I refuse to merge them.

The landlord’s apartment is the rent desk. Three payments: basement key and the Old Photograph. Four payments: Jupiter and a boss. The ground floor is where that counter lives.

Searchers ask what to throw in the toilet. I do not have two sources that name an item, so I am not going to pick a prop. The question stays open on purpose. If you have a page that names it, that is a correction for the contact address, not a guess I will publish tonight.

Mailroom and lobby office doors (29, 15, 146) sit in the same public disc list as this floor’s main gate. 29 is a real door value. I have not found a door whose value is 30, so I will not invent one to match the search.
