Mr. Henderson

Last checked 2026-11-03

Mr. Henderson is the landlord on the ground floor, an elderly veteran in a wheelchair with a weapons cache. He is not a companion. Three rent payments are what the wiki ties to the Basement Key. You do not need a fourth payment to go downstairs.

Rent, a rifle, and a medicine that is not real

The fourth payment is a different prize: the Jupiter disc, and the Trench Digger fight. Players asking how to get the basement key sooner are usually overpaying. Stop at three if the key is the goal. Pay four if the disc is the goal. I split them because the search phrase “sooner” is the whole question.

He asks for antibiotics. The item page and his page agree those antibiotics do not exist as an item you can hand over. I will not list a crafting recipe for them. The request is a characterization, not a shopping list.

A wrong-name answer in conversation deals 60 damage from the rifle, according to the wiki. Later the apartment itself distorts and the hand swarm takes him into the Trench Digger fight. That fight is optional in the sense that the third payment already opened the basement. It is not optional if you want Jupiter.

Old Photograph comes with the third payment as well, and that photograph is a wrong offering. Useful, and dangerous if you slot it into the ritual by mistake. Aster wants the other picture.
