Look Outside on Steam Deck
Last checked 2026-11-03
Steam’s own Deck report calls Look Outside Playable. The notes attached to that report mention small fonts and controller icons that do not match the prompts. I am not upgrading Playable into Verified.
Playable, with the font caveat
| Finding | Details | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Valve rating | Playable; small text and controller-glyph caveats; default configuration rated functional and performant | 1 source: Valve compatibility report |
| Controller reports | Community report describes switching controller templates; report is not an official badge | 1 source: Proton issue 8567 |
Playable is a specific word in Valve’s set. It is not Unsupported, and it is not Verified. I keep the middle word because that is the word the compatibility report uses for app 3373660. The caveats are part of the rating, not a comment I added.
A Proton issue on Valve’s GitHub, number 8567, is the second place pads come up: controller support and the default template. I use it as background, not as a promise that every community layout is comfortable. ProtonDB posts vary by person. I will not average them into a score.
There is no macOS build on the Steam page I checked. Deck is a Linux-based PC, which is why it can run a Windows game Valve has rated. A Mac search is a different no, and it lives on the platform matrix, not as a hidden Deck download.
Cloud saves and suspend are Deck habits. I do not have a Look Outside-specific note that suspend breaks a Survivor save, so I will not invent that warning. The save rules are the difficulty’s rules, on the saving page, whether the screen is a Deck or a monitor.
