How to save

Explorer saves from the menu, except inside apartment 28. Survivor and Cursed do not. You fill Danger and talk to Sybil when she comes through the wall. Cursed wants the second notch. Every difficulty still gets her free save at 4:00 a.m.
The notch, the clock, and the stairwell
Apartment 33 is home, and home is where the hard-mode save lives. Danger rises when you enter rooms and when you fight. Black Ooze adds a large chunk, 240 on the danger article, if you are short after the stairwell and the meter will not reach the line. That is the “survivor mode after stairway” complaint: the stairs did not delete the save. The meter is simply short.
Ironman turns Sybil off. You may sleep twice to save, and a clear is worth 2000 points plus the Cold Shoulder achievement. No Saves is the harsher sibling: never save, 4000 points, same achievement. I am not recommending either on a first file. I am defining them so the achievement page does not have to teach the menu.
Explorer also autosaves on new rooms and kills. People who switch difficulty mid-thought expect that safety net to survive. It does not. The mode is the rule.
A mod that saves anywhere is a mod. It is not a menu I forgot. The mods page is where that request goes. This page will not link a trainer.
Cursed’s second notch is the detail that makes “I did what the Survivor video said” fail. Count the marks on her meter before you blame the wall. Version 2.3 added more save conversations. The ritual is the same ritual.
