Look Outside v2.3

Player character

Sam

Last checked 2026-11-03

Sam is the person in the apartment. The wiki describes him as an unemployed man in his thirties who is afraid of clowns. You can rename him at the start. He is not a recruitable companion, because the party is built around him.

Those figures come from the Miraheze Sam article. Steam does not publish a character sheet, so the status column stays at one source. Ballistics and bullet defense are listed as 0 there as well.

He does not learn attacks by leveling. The wiki says the skills come from finishing the video games inside the apartment: Jump Attack, Nitro Boost, Combat Medic, Meteor Strike, Painful Stab, and others on that list. Patch 2.3, dated 15 April 2026 on the version history, changes three of them: Jump Attack, Octostrike, and Painful Stab roll weapon-break chances, Jump Attack’s stamina cost moves from 2 to 3, drinks restore Vigor, and Mint Gum works. I am not inventing the rest of the skill text.

Six needs start the daily loop: Food, Vigor, Social, Hygiene, Morale, and Calm. The beginner page explains what happens when they fall. Rent is paid to the landlord downstairs. The run is fifteen days long unless an ending cuts it short.

The Rat Child is the permanent cost. Saving that creature, the wiki says, takes one of Sam’s arms and the arm does not grow back. That choice is also why the Rat Child can later stand in the party. If you want the care steps, they are on the Rat Child page, not repeated as a second guide here.

Home is apartment 33. From there he walks Floor 3 down toward the basement. Neighbors tied to his early days include Sybil through the eyehole, plus Lyle, Joel, and Hellen. The clown fear matters because Pierre’s quest is built on it.
